Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood‘s new band, The Smile, have released their debut single, “You Will Never Work in Television Again.”
The trio had performed the song last year during their first public appearance at the Glastonburry livestream, Live at Worthy Farm.
The song is produced by Nigel Godrich, who has been the producer of Radiohead since 1997. Godrich has also claimed that the album is ready to drop.
Godrich told Stereogum, “It’s an interesting juxtaposition of things. But it does make sense. It will make sense.”
The band also updated its followers through the official Twitter page that the album is in the final stages. The tweet said, “Hi all, a little update. The Smile album is at the track-listing stage (6227020800 possible song orders).”
The Smile trio features Yorke on the vocals, Greenwood on the six-strings and drummer Tom Skinner of the British Jazz group Sons of Kemet.
Talking about Skinner, Godrich said, “[He’s] a great musician and a great guy. I sort of smile to myself, because I can see he’s going to get a lot of attention.”
